What Happens When Two Lots in the Same Building File Conflicting Claims?
I’m in a bit of a mess with my unit in a mixed-use building. We’ve had some water damage, and while I filed a claim for repairs, I just found out the shop below me put in a totally different claim saying the leak started from my unit. Now both of us are dealing with separate adjusters and totally opposite stories. I’m trying to figure out what happens when claims start contradicting each other like this. Does it slow everything down or get tossed into some legal grey area? I'm already juggling renewals for our commercial strata insurance, and now this gets dropped on me. Has anyone else gone through this kinda situation?
I always feel like the paperwork side of strata stuff snowballs when there’s more than one unit involved. One minute it’s a small issue, next thing you know, you’re five emails deep trying to figure out whose responsibility it is. Honestly, just watching it from the sidelines gives me anxiety — especially when people live on top of businesses with totally different priorities.
